Where Does Reality Exist?

This is going to be the most mind blowing thing you will ever read.

When you think about reality, what do you think about? Most people will think about their family, friends, social status, career, material things and so on. People’s perception of reality is mostly their vision of the outside world. Outside world meaning everything you see, hear, smell, feel, and taste.

What Is Reality?

When asked what is reality, you will get answers like “reality is everything that is not a fantasy or imagined, reality is what is right in front of you right now.” Some may even say that reality is information. When asked what is reality, there is never a wrong answer. Because everyone has a different perception of reality. Some may see reality as a place to torture us, or some may see reality as a place for pleasure and joy.

Each perceptive is going to be different for everyone because to a blind man reality is much different to a person who can see. Or a deaf man, they feel reality as peaceful because they can’t hear. So any answer to the question “what is reality” is accepted. Emphasis on the word accepted because anyone’s view on reality is not right or wrong, it’s a matter of perception.

Where Does Reality Exist?

There is something common about everyone’s perception on “what is reality?” Two people could be in the same exact situation but make different realities out of the situation. What this means is that reality is created only in the mind. If you take away your brain and mind, and does reality exist to that person? Absolutely not because they have no system to process the information.

To a blind man, the visual reality doesn’t exist because he doesn’t have the brain and mind to process it. Sure you see reality but you only see reality inside your mind. When light hits the retina, photoreceptors turn the light into electrical signals. These electrical signals move from the retina through the optic nerve to the brain. Then the brain turns the electrical signals into the images you see. Sure your eyes can still take in light but it makes no image because there is no brain to process the image.

What If You Could Live Without Your Brain?

If we lived in a world that humans could be alive without a brain then there would be no world at. Without the brain to process what you feel, what you see, what you hear, what you smell, and what you taste, then reality and life as you know it would cease to exist.

How Touch Works: Your skin contains tiny nerve endings that create your sense of touch. When you experience sensations such as pain or heat or cold, or feel things that are soft or sticky or sharp, the bottom layer of your skin, called the dermis, sends messages to your brain about the sensation. https://www.sharecare.com/health/five-senses/how-sense-of-touch-work

How Hearing Works: Hearing is the process of sound or vibrations traveling through the outer, middle and inner ear. Sound enters through the ear, and it is interpreted by the brain.

How Seeing Works: When light hits the retina, photoreceptors turn the light into electrical signals. These electrical signals move from the retina through the optic nerve to the brain. Then the brain turns the electrical signals into the images you see.

How Taste Works: Taste is a chemical sense perceived by specialized receptor cells that make up taste buds. Flavor is a fusion of multiple senses. To perceive flavor, the brain interprets not only taste stimuli, but also olfactory (smell) stimuli and tactile and thermal sensations. https://health.howstuffworks.com/mental-health/human-nature/perception/taste.htm

How Smell Works: First, a molecule released from a substance like food, cologne, etc. must stimulate special nerve cells called olfactory cells located high up in the nose. These nerve cells then send information to the brain, where the specific smell is identified.

If you read how above how all our 5 senses works, you will see that although each sense starts out in the eyes, nose, tongue, ears, and skin, they end up in the brain. The brain does all the interpretation. Without the brain you would not be able to smell, hear, eye, touch, and taste, the 5 things that makes reality real to us.

So ultimately without the mind and brain reality is not real or what not exist
